CAP013DG

The Power Integrations CAP013DG is a Capacitor Discharge IC belonging to the CAPZero family. It is designed to automatically discharge X capacitors through discharge resistors when AC voltage is disconnected, reducing power loss to less than 5 mW at 230 VAC. This simplifies EMI filter design by allowing larger X capacitors without increasing power consumption.

Key electrical specifications include a maximum breakdown voltage (BVDSS) of 1000V, a maximum total X capacitance of 750nF, and a nominal total series resistance of 1.02MΩ. The device operates with very low power consumption, typically less than 5 mW at 230 VAC, making it suitable for applications requiring ultra-low no-load consumption and compliance with standards like EuP Lot 6.

The CAP013DG is housed in a surface mount 8-SOIC package and offers features such as >4 mm creepage on the package and PCB, self-supply (no external bias required), and high common mode surge immunity. Its internal MOSFETs provide high differential surge withstand up to 1000V.

This IC is ideal for use in all ACDC converters with X capacitors greater than 100nF, appliances requiring EuP Lot 6 compliance, and adapters requiring ultra-low no-load consumption. The two-terminal design meets safety standards for use before or after a system input fuse.
