CAP014DG

The Power Integrations CAP014DG is a specialized IC from the CAPZero family, designed to automatically discharge X capacitors in ACDC converters. When AC voltage is applied, it blocks current through the discharge resistors, reducing power loss to less than 5 mW at 230 VAC. Upon disconnection of AC power, it automatically discharges the X capacitor, allowing for flexibility in EMI filter design and reduced inductor costs.

This device features a high differential surge withstand of 1000 V internal MOSFETs and a breakdown voltage (BVDSS) of 1000 V. It supports a maximum total X capacitance of 750 nF with a nominal total series resistance of 1.02 MW. The CAP014DG operates with very low consumption, less than 5 mW at 230 VAC, making it suitable for applications requiring ultra-low no-load consumption and compliance with standards like EuP Lot 6.

Packaged in an 8-SOIC surface mount package, the CAP014DG offers a creepage distance of over 4 mm on the package and PCB. Its two-terminal design meets safety standards for use before or after a system input fuse. It is self-supplied, requiring no external bias, and provides high common mode surge immunity without an external ground connection.
