The UC1843A-SP from Texas Instruments is a radiation-hardened, pin-for-pin compatible version of the UC184x family, designed for current-mode switched-mode power supplies. It offers features such as low start-up current (< 0.5 mA), trimmed oscillator discharge current (8.3 mA), and high-current totem-pole output.
This controller supports various topologies including Flyback, Forward, Buck, Boost, Push-Pull, Half-Bridge, and Full-Bridge with external interface circuits. It is optimized for offline and DC-to-DC converters and operates at frequencies up to 500 kHz. The device includes undervoltage lockout (UVLO) with hysteresis and double-pulse suppression.
Designed for demanding environments, the UC1843A-SP is QML Class V (QMLV) Qualified and offers radiation hardness assurance up to 30-krad(Si) Total Ionizing Dose (TID). It is available in the military temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. Packages include CDIP, LCCC, and CFP.
Key electrical features include automatic feed-forward compensation, pulse-by-pulse current limiting, and an internally-trimmed bandgap reference. The output stage can sink at least 10 mA at less than 1.2 V for VCC over 5 V during UVLO.
