The UC1543L from Texas Instruments is a monolithic integrated circuit designed for sophisticated power supply system monitoring and control. It features over-voltage (O.V.) sensing with provision for external SCR "crowbar" shutdown, an undervoltage (U.V.) circuit for monitoring output or input line voltage, and a third op-amp/comparator for current sensing (C.L.).
The device includes an internal 1% accurate reference voltage generator and programmable time delays for fault detection. All functions have open collector outputs that can be used independently or wire-OR'ed. The SCR trigger is directly connected to the O.V. sensing circuit but can be optionally activated by other outputs or an external signal. The O.V. circuit also supports an optional latch and external reset capability.
Available in CDIP (J), CFP (W), and LCCC (FK) packages, the UC1543L is suitable for through-hole mounting. The UC1544/2544/3544 series offers uncommitted comparator inputs for monitoring voltage levels below 2.5V by dividing down the internal reference.
