The STMicroelectronics L482D1 is an integrated circuit designed for use in breakerless ignition systems with hall-effect pickup sensors and high energy ignition coils. It is suitable for direct driving of external power Darlington transistors and provides coil current charging angle (dwell) control.
This IC offers coil current peak value limitation, continuous coil current protection, and conduction and desaturation time output signals. It also includes permanent conduction protection and a reset output signal, along with overvoltage protection for the external Darlington and load dump protection. The L482D1 is particularly suitable for ignition control and driving stages in sophisticated car electronic systems employing microprocessor circuits.
It is housed in a 16-SOIC package and is designed for surface mount applications. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C, with a voltage range of 6V to 28V and a current consumption of 25mA.
