The Texas Instruments TVP5160 is a versatile digital video decoder designed for NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and component video inputs. It incorporates two 11-bit, 60 MSPS analog-to-digital converters with analog preprocessors for robust signal handling.
The device supports various video standards including NTSC (J, M, 4.43), PAL (B, D, G, H, I, M, N, Nc, 60), and SECAM (B, D, G, K, K1, L), as well as CVBS, S-Video, and component standards like 480i, 576i, 480p, and 576p. It adheres to ITU-R BT.601 pixel sampling frequencies and supports both ITU-R BT.656 and ITU-R BT.601 output formatter standards.
Key features include fixed RGB-to-YUV color space conversion, robust sync detection for noisy signals, adaptive comb and chroma trap filters, and concurrent temporal, frame recursive noise reduction (3DNR). The TVP5160 also includes IF compensation, line-based time base correction, and fast switching capabilities. An I2C host port interface allows for easy control and configuration.
Packaged in a 128-lead HTQFP (PNP) measuring 16 mm x 16 mm, the TVP5160 operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. Its applications span digital TVs, LCD TVs/monitors, DVD recorders, PVRs, PC video cards, video capture/editing systems, and video conferencing.
