The SMS12R3 is a 12-position receptacle housing from the SMS series by Souriau-Sunbank by Eaton, designed for railway applications per NF F 16101 and NF F 16102 standards. It features 4 rows with a 5.08mm pitch and row spacing, panel mount configuration with latch lock fastening, and crimp termination for #16 contacts. The housing is made of polyamide PA6 with UL94 V-0 flammability rating and is available in white (note: datasheet specifies grey).
Electrical characteristics include a minimum insulation resistance of 5000 MΩ at 500V DC and a dielectric strength of 2000V AC for 1 minute at sea level. Mechanical performance includes a minimum contact retention force of 44.5 N, typical mating force of 26.7 N for 12 positions, and durability of 500 mating cycles minimum. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 105°C.
The housing accepts wire insulation up to 4.19 mm in diameter and is designed for panel mounting with a hinged panel retention member for easy installation and removal. It includes polarizing keyways and a latch receiver for secure mating.
