The MIC68400YML is a high-peak current Low Dropout (LDO) regulator designed by Micrel Inc. specifically for applications requiring high start-up current, such as FPGA core voltages. It can source up to 4A of current from start-up and provides 3A of continuous operating current. The device operates from a wide input voltage range of 1.65V to 5.5V and offers an adjustable output voltage down to 0.5V.
The MIC68400YML supports various power-up and power-down protocols, including sequencing, tracking, and ratiometric tracking. It features a delay pin for controlling power-on reset (POR) output and power-down delay, as well as a ramp control pin for tracking applications or output voltage slew rate adjustment. On-board jumpers allow for selection of delay caps, tracking, or sequencing modes.
This regulator is stable with a 10uF ceramic capacitor and is housed in a tiny 4mm x 4mm MLF package, making it suitable for space-constrained designs. The MIC68400YML is ideal for power management in complex systems where controlled power sequencing is critical.
