The MD-001 Juniper from Halo Electronics Inc is a versatile 8-channel clock and modulation source designed for modular systems. It boasts a powerful modulation matrix that allows for the generation of complex waveforms by individually modulating parameters such as frequency, amplitude, and offset. Modulation sources include all 8 internal channels and 4 assignable inputs, enabling intricate relationships between output channels.
Each of the 8 high-resolution 16-bit output channels can function as either an LFO or a Function Generator. The device supports bipolar (-5V to +5V) and unipolar (0V to +5V) modes. A variety of output waveforms are available, including sine, tangent, square, triangle, sawtooth, envelope, random, and stair-stepped. The MD-001 Juniper also features 8 individual or linked CV recorders that can be quantized to the beat and streamed directly to an SD card for extended loop durations. It includes 3 high-resolution 16-bit CV inputs and 1 GATE (clock) input.
The module is housed in a compact 8HP Eurorack format with a depth of 36mm. A responsive OLED display provides visualization of output signals and modulation sources with an integrated oscilloscope. The unit supports firmware updates, state persistence, and data streaming via a Micro SD card and includes reverse polarity power protection. An optional MD-002 Gin Expander can add 8x 12-bit CV inputs and dedicated recording controls for enhanced live looping.
