The Texas Instruments MAX3243EIPWR is a versatile RS-232 transceiver designed for single-supply operation from 3V to 5.5V. This device integrates three line drivers and five line receivers, making it suitable for applications requiring a standard serial port interface, such as those found in IBM PC/AT compatible systems.
Key electrical characteristics include a data rate of up to 500kbps and receiver hysteresis of 500mV. The transceiver offers robust ESD protection for RS-232 bus pins, rated at ±15kV for the Human-Body Model (HBM) and ±15kV for IEC61000-4-2 air-gap discharge, and ±8kV for IEC61000-4-2 contact discharge.
