The HI-3599PCIF-40 from Holt Integrated Circuits is a silicon gate CMOS IC designed for interfacing eight ARINC 429 receive buses to a microcontroller with a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). Each receiver includes user-programmable label recognition for up to 16 labels, a four-word data buffer (FIFO), and an on-chip analog line receiver. The SPI interface minimizes host interface signals, allowing for a small footprint device compatible with various microcontrollers.
This IC supports 3.3V or 5.0V logic supply operation and offers independent data rate selection for each receiver. The 32nd received ARINC bit can be configured as data or a parity flag. Versions are available with different input resistance values for flexibility with external lightning protection circuitry. The HI-3597 and HI-3599 are reduced pin-count versions for minimum package footprint.
Key features include ARINC 429 compliance, 8 independent receive channels, on-chip analog line receivers, and a high-speed, four-wire Serial Peripheral Interface. The device is suitable for applications in avionics data communication and industrial control. It operates within industrial and extended temperature ranges.
