The BXA3-12S15-F is a 3-watt isolated DC-DC converter module from the BXA3 series by Artesyn Embedded Power. It accepts a wide input voltage range of 9V to 18V (nominal 12V) and delivers a single regulated 15V output at up to 200mA. The module provides 500VDC input-to-output isolation and features continuous short circuit protection with automatic recovery, as well as overvoltage protection via a clamp diode.
This converter is designed for a variety of applications including telecommunications, industrial systems, and process and test equipment. It operates over an ambient temperature range of -25°C to +105°C and is cooled by free air convection. The module is housed in a 24-DIP package (600 mil, 10 leads) with through-hole mounting, making it suitable for board-level integration.
Key electrical specifications include a typical efficiency of 75%, output voltage accuracy of ±1.0%, line and load regulation of ±2.5%, and ripple and noise of 100mV pk-pk (15mV rms). The switching frequency is variable between 200kHz and 1MHz. The module is rated for an MTBF of 800,000 hours per MIL-HDBK-217F.
The BXA3-12S15-F is designed for commercial ITE applications and is available in a version with a Pi-type input filter (suffix -F). The case material is non-conductive black plastic with UL94V-0 flammability rating.
