The Bosch BMI260 is a next-generation, high-performance Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) specifically targeted at smartphone applications. This device integrates a high-end accelerometer with automotive-proven gyroscope technology, enabling fast and accurate inertial sensing.
The BMI260 offers extremely precise acceleration sensing with programmable ranges up to ±16g and gyroscope sensing with ranges up to ±2000dps. It features high robustness against temperature fluctuations and a self-calibrating gyroscope. Key applications include advanced gesture, activity, and context recognition, indoor navigation, pedestrian dead-reckoning (PDR), and optical or electronic image stabilization.
This IMU operates with a supply voltage range of 1.7 to 3.6V (VDD) and 1.2 to 3.6V (VDDIO), consuming as little as 685 µA at full output data rate. It supports multiple interfaces including 2x SPI and 2x I2C, along with 2 digital interrupts. The BMI260 is housed in a compact 2.5 x 3.0 x 0.8 mm³ LGA package with 14 pins, making it suitable for space-constrained designs.
