The ADP8861ACBZ-R7 is a versatile 7-channel smart LED driver manufactured by Analog Devices Inc. This integrated circuit utilizes a charge pump with automatic gain selection (1x, 1.5x, 2x) to efficiently drive up to seven independent LEDs. Each driver can deliver up to 30 mA typical, with one driver capable of 60 mA typical. The device supports programmable maximum current limits with 128 levels and offers 16 programmable fade in/out times ranging from 0.1 to 5.5 seconds, with selectable linear, square, or cubic rates.
Communication and programming are handled via an I2C-compatible interface. The ADP8861ACBZ-R7 includes essential safety features such as short-circuit, overvoltage, and overtemperature protection, along with an internal soft start to manage inrush currents. It operates from a supply voltage as low as 2.5 V and features undervoltage lockout at 2.0 V. The device is available in a compact 20-WLCSP package, suitable for surface mounting.
Applications for this LED driver include mobile display backlighting, mobile phone keypad backlighting, dual RGB backlighting, LED indication, and general backlighting for small format displays. Its robust feature set and compact form factor make it ideal for space-constrained designs requiring precise LED control.
