The XTR114U from Texas Instruments is a monolithic, two-wire, 4-20mA current transmitter. It is designed to provide complete current excitation for high impedance platinum RTD temperature sensors and bridges, along with instrumentation amplifier and current output circuitry on a single integrated circuit.
Key features include precision current sources (100μA for XTR114), RTD or bridge excitation, and linearization circuitry for improved linearity. It supports two or three-wire RTD operation. The device boasts a low unadjusted error, low offset drift of 0.4μV/°C, and low output current noise of 30nAp-p.
With a wide supply voltage range of 7.5V to 36V and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, the XTR114U is suitable for harsh industrial environments. It is available in a compact SO-14 surface-mount package.
Applications include industrial process control, factory automation, SCADA remote data acquisition, and remote temperature and pressure transducers.
