The XR21V1410 from Exar is an enhanced 1-channel Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter (UART) with an integrated USB interface. It is fully compliant with the Full-Speed USB 2.0 specification, enabling data transfer rates of up to 12 Mbps. The device supports essential USB operations such as suspend, resume, and remote wakeup.
Key features include a fractional baud rate generator for accurate baud rate generation using an internal 48 MHz clock, eliminating the need for an external crystal. It boasts a large 128-byte transmit (TX) FIFO and a 384-byte receive (RX) FIFO to enhance data throughput. The XR21V1410 also includes automatic transceiver direction control for simplified half-duplex RS-485 applications and supports multidrop (9-bit) mode.
