The Intersil X28HC256J-12 is a second-generation, high-performance CMOS 32k x 8 EEPROM. Fabricated using Intersil's proprietary textured poly floating gate technology, it offers a highly reliable 5V-only nonvolatile memory solution.
This EEPROM supports a 128-byte page write operation, achieving a write cycle of 24µs/byte and allowing the entire memory to be rewritten in under 0.8 seconds. It includes features like DATA polling and Toggle bit polling for early end-of-write detection, as well as the JEDEC standard software data protection feature to prevent inadvertent writes during power transitions.
Key electrical specifications include a maximum access time of 90ns, a maximum active current of 60 mA, and a maximum standby current of 0.5 mA. The device is organized as 32k x 8 bits and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
The X28HC256J-12 has an endurance rating of a minimum of 100,000 write cycles per byte and an inherent data retention of 100 years. It is available in a 28-lead CFP package.
