VIPER50SP

The STMicroelectronics VIPER50SP is a high-performance SMPS Primary IC utilizing VIPower M0 Technology. It integrates a PWM circuit with a high voltage avalanche rugged Vertical Power MOSFET, suitable for offline power supplies. This device features adjustable switching frequencies up to 200 kHz, current mode control, and soft start functionality.

Key electrical specifications include a continuous drain-source voltage of up to 620V for the VIPer50/SP variant and 700V for the VIPer50A/ASP. It supports a supply voltage range of 8V to 15V and can deliver up to 50W of output power. The IC includes integrated features like undervoltage lock-out with hysteresis, an integrated start-up supply, and overtemperature protection. Fault protection is provided through current limiting and overtemperature control.

Designed for surface mounting, the VIPER50SP comes in a PowerSO-10 exposed bottom pad package. Its topology is flyback, and it supports isolated output. The device also offers automatic burst mode operation in stand-by conditions, enabling low total power consumption.

Typical applications include off-line power supplies with secondary power capabilities of 25W in wide-range conditions and 50W in single-range or doubler configurations. It is compatible with both primary and secondary regulation loops, offering a more component-efficient solution compared to discrete designs.
