The Vicor VI-RAM-M2 is a Ripple Attenuator Module (RAM) that functions as an output filter for VI-200 or VI-J00 converters, FlatPACs, ComPACs, or MegaMods. It is engineered to limit total output noise to less than 3mV peak-to-peak at loads up to 20A.
Combining active and passive filtering techniques, the RAM effectively attenuates both low-frequency input power source harmonics and high-frequency switching components across the DC to 20MHz frequency range. This results in significantly cleaner power output.
The module exhibits high efficiencies, ranging from 93% to 99%, minimizing power loss. It requires no adjustments and retains remote sense and output voltage trim features of the connected converters. The operating temperature range for the VI-RAM-M2 is -55°C to +100°C.
This component-level solution provides power systems architects with a flexible means to achieve clean power, avoiding the space, efficiency, and weight penalties associated with linear power sources or conventional add-on filters.
