The Vicor VI-RAM-E1 is a component-level solution for power systems architects seeking to minimize output noise. This Ripple Attenuator Module (RAM) is designed for use with VI-200 or VI-J00 converters, FlatPACs™, ComPACs™, or MegaMods™, supporting output voltages from 5 to 50V.
Combining active and passive filtering techniques, the VI-RAM-E1 effectively attenuates both low-frequency input power source harmonics and high-frequency switching components across the DC to 20MHz frequency range. It limits total output noise to less than 3mV peak-to-peak at loads up to 20A. The module exhibits high efficiencies ranging from 93% to 99%, ensuring minimal power loss.
Designed for ease of integration, no adjustments are required, and features such as remote sense and output voltage trim are retained. The VI-RAM-E1 eliminates the space, efficiency, and weight penalties associated with linear power sources and external add-on filters for conventional switchers, providing a flexible and high-performance clean-power solution.
The VI-RAM-E1 provides an output voltage range from 5 to 50 volts.
The module supports a continuous current rating of up to 10 amperes.
It limits total output noise to less than 3 millivolts peak-to-peak at loads up to 20 amperes.
The device operates reliably within an ambient temperature range of –10 degrees Celsius to +100 degrees Celsius.
The module delivers energy conversion efficiencies ranging from 93 to 99 percent.
It may be connected to Vicor VI-200 or VI-J00 converters, FlatPACs, ComPACs, or MegaMods.
