The Sensata APL/UPL series hydraulic magnetic circuit protector, model UPL1-21430-6, offers reliable circuit protection and power switching. It features a panel mount design and a single pole configuration with a lever actuator.
This protector functions similarly to an ON-OFF switch under normal load conditions. Upon detecting an overload, its internal mechanism trips, opening the contacts and forcibly returning the handle to the OFF position. It is designed to be 'trip free,' meaning the internal contacts will not remain closed during an overload, even if the handle is held in the ON position.
While designed for industrial, military, and information processing applications, the APL/UPL series is suitable for any situation requiring precision operation. It is important to note that the APL/UPL series is a legacy product, and Sensata Technologies recommends utilizing the Airpax™ IAL series for new designs as no new design-in orders are being accepted for this product line.
Most versions of the APL family are recognized by UL per UL STD. 1077 as supplementary protectors and certified by CSA per CSA STD. C22.2–No. 235 as supplementary protectors and are designated with the UPL prefix.
