The Sensata APL/UPL series, including the UPL1-2042-1, are hydraulic magnetic circuit protectors offering reliable power switching, protection, and control. The UPL1-2042-1 features a single pole and a lever actuator for manual operation, similar to an ON-OFF switch. Upon detecting an overload, the internal mechanism trips, opening the contacts and forcibly returning the handle to the OFF position. This protector is 'trip free,' meaning it cannot be held closed during an overload condition. Designed for applications requiring precision operation, it is suitable for industrial, military, and information processing environments. The UPL1-2042-1 is intended for panel mounting.
This product is a legacy component. Sensata Technologies advises that no new design-in orders are being accepted for the APL/UPL series. For new designs, Sensata recommends utilizing the Airpax™ IAL series. While designed for demanding applications, the APL/UPL family is recognized by UL per UL STD. 1077 and certified by CSA per CSA STD. C22.2–No. 235 as supplementary protectors.
