The UCB1400BE from Philips is a versatile stereo audio codec designed for portable and battery-powered applications. It integrates a touch screen controller and power management monitor, communicating with host controllers via an AC '97 Rev. 2.1 interface.
This audio codec boasts 20-bit stereo audio capabilities with programmable sample rates and gain control, including stereo line input, mono microphone input, and stereo line/headphone output with bass/treble control. The headphone driver includes short circuit protection and virtual ground for DC coupling.
For touch screen functionality, it features a 4-wire resistive interface circuit supporting position, pressure, and plate resistance measurements. A built-in 10-bit successive approximation ADC handles touch screen readout and monitors up to four external high-voltage sources. Additionally, ten general-purpose I/O pins offer programmable input/output capabilities.
The UCB1400BE is supplied in a compact 48-pin LQFP surface mount package, minimizing PCB space requirements. It operates at a 3.3V supply voltage and includes built-in power saving modes, making it suitable for smart mobile phones, handheld PCs, PDAs, and personal intelligent communicators.
