The Texas Instruments UC2854AN is an enhanced bipolar CCM PFC controller that provides active power factor correction. It controls Boost PWM to achieve near-unity power factor by shaping the AC input line current waveform to correspond to the AC input line voltage. This controller utilizes average current mode control, which maintains stable, low distortion sinusoidal line current without the need for slope compensation.
Key features include a high bandwidth (5 MHz) low-offset current amplifier, integrated current and voltage amplifier output clamps, and improved multiplier linearity. It offers UVLO options of 16 V/10 V or 10.5 V/10 V and a start-up supply current of 300 µA. The device operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
Designed for world-wide operation without switches, the UC2854AN is suitable for applications requiring accurate power limiting. It is available in a 16-PDIP package and is designed for through-hole mounting.
