The UAF42AP from Burr-Brown Corp is a universal active filter designed for versatile low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass filter configurations. It utilizes a classic state-variable analog architecture, incorporating an inverting amplifier and two integrators. The integrators feature on-chip 1000pF capacitors, precisely trimmed to 0.5% tolerance, which simplifies active filter design by providing tight tolerance, low-loss capacitors.
This monolithic IC offers accurate frequency and Q characteristics, making it suitable for applications requiring precise filtering. A fourth uncommitted FET-input op amp is included, allowing for additional stages or specialized filter designs like band-reject filters. The UAF42AP operates as a time-continuous filter, avoiding the anomalies and switching noise associated with switched-capacitor filter types.
It is available in a 14-pin plastic DIP package and is specified for an operating temperature range of -25°C to +85°C. The design procedure is simplified, and a DOS-compatible filter design program is available for easy implementation of various filter types such as Butterworth, Bessel, and Chebyshev.
