The Texas Instruments TVP5151PBSR is an ultralow-power video decoder IC designed for NTSC, PAL, and SECAM video formats. It supports the ITU-R BT.601 standard sampling and utilizes a high-speed 9-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC).
This device offers flexibility with two composite inputs or one S-Video input. It features fully differential CMOS analog preprocessing channels with clamping and automatic gain control (AGC) for optimal signal-to-noise performance. The TVP5151PBSR includes complementary 4-line adaptive comb filters for noise reduction and a patented architecture for locking to weak or unstable signals.
Control of brightness, saturation, hue, and sharpness is managed through an I2C interface. The decoder operates with a single 27.000-MHz crystal and includes an internal phase-locked loop (PLL) for line-locked clock generation. It provides a subcarrier genlock output for synchronizing external encoders. The digital I/O supply voltage is variable, ranging from 1.8 V to 3.3 V.
The TVP5151PBSR is available in a 32-terminal TQFP package (PBS) and supports standard programmable video output formats like ITU-R BT.656, 8-bit 4:2:2 with embedded or discrete syncs. It also includes Macrovision copy protection. The device consumes less than 1 mW in power-down mode.
