This controller is designed to support various storage devices including external hard disk drives, ZIP drives, magneto-optical drives, CD-ROMs, and DVD-ROMs.

 

The TSB42AA9A supports IEEE P1394a and IEEE Std 1394-1995 standards, with serial bus data rates of 100, 200, and 400 Mbps. Its ATA/ATAPI interface is programmable and supports PIO modes 0-4, DMA modes 0-2, and Ultra DMA modes 0-4. The controller features automated SBP-2 transport protocol, hardware-implemented command translation, and automated header removal/insertion for 1394 and SBP-2 protocols.

 

Built with 0.18 micron CMOS technology, it includes embedded RAM and ROM. The device offers an external flash PROM/EPROM interface for easy program code changes and an internal parameter RAM for fast access to configuration ROM and key SBP-2 parameters. It also includes a 2-wire serial bus interface for loading configuration ROM from a serial EEPROM.

 

The TSB42AA9APZTR comes in a space-saving 100-pin TQFP package, making it suitable for compact designs.
