The TSB41LV06APZP from Texas Instruments is an integrated circuit designed to provide the digital and analog transceiver functions for a six-port node in an IEEE 1394 network. It fully supports the provisions of the IEEE 1394-1995 Standard for High Performance Serial Bus and the P1394a Supplement, ensuring interoperability with FireWire and i.LINK implementations.
This transceiver features six fully compliant P1394a cable ports capable of operating at 100, 200, or 400 Megabits per second. It includes advanced P1394a support functions such as connection debounce, arbitrated short reset, multispeed concatenation, arbitration acceleration, fly-by concatenation, and port disable/suspend/resume capabilities. Extended resume signaling is provided for compatibility with legacy DV devices.
The device is designed for power efficiency, incorporating power-down features like automatic device power-down during suspend, device power-down terminal, link interface disable via LPS, and inactive ports powered-down. It also offers an ultralow-power sleep mode and node power class information signaling for system power management. The TSB41LV06APZP operates on a single 3.3V supply and is housed in a 100-pin HTQFP (14x14) thermally enhanced package, suitable for surface mounting.
It interfaces with a link-layer controller through 2/4/8 parallel lines at 49.152 MHz and supports low-cost TI bus-holder isolation. The transceiver is interoperable with link-layer controllers and other physical layers using 3.3V and 5V supplies. A low-cost 24.576-MHz crystal provides the necessary clock signals for transmit, receive data, and the link-layer controller.
