The TSB41AB3-EP from Texas Instruments is an enhanced product featuring an IEEE 1394a 3-port cable transceiver and arbiter. This device fully supports the provisions of the IEEE 1394-1995 standard for High Performance Serial Bus and the 1394a-2000 supplement. It is fully interoperable with FireWire and i.LINK implementations and compliant with Open HCI requirements.

This transceiver provides three fully-compliant cable ports operating at 100/200/400 Megabits Per Second (Mbits/s). Key features include connection debounce, arbitrated short reset, multispeed concatenation, arbitration acceleration, and fly-by concatenation. It also supports port disable/suspend/resume and extended resume signaling for compatibility with legacy DV devices.

Designed for efficiency, the TSB41AB3-EP includes an ultralow power sleep mode, node power class information signaling for system power management, and cable power presence monitoring. Power-down features conserve energy in battery-powered applications, such as automatic device power down during suspend and inactive ports powered down.

The device interfaces to the link-layer controller through 2/4/8 parallel lines at 49.152 MHz and supports low-cost TI bus-holder isolation. It is interoperable with link-layer controllers and other physical layers using 3.3-V and 5-V supplies. The TSB41AB3IPFPEP is packaged in an 80-HTQFP (12x12) and is surface-mountable.
