The Texas Instruments TRS3243EIRHBR is a multichannel RS-232 line driver and receiver IC. It operates from a single 3V to 5.5V supply and supports data rates up to 500kbps. This transceiver features robust ESD protection on its RS-232 bus pins, rated at +/-15kV for Human-Body Model (HBM) and IEC61000-4-2 (Air-gap discharge), and +/-8kV for IEC61000-4-2 (Contact discharge).

 

Designed to meet or exceed TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU v.28 standards, the TRS3243E provides the necessary electrical interface for asynchronous communication controllers. It includes three line drivers and five line receivers, making it suitable for typical serial port applications in IBM PC/AT compatible systems. The device also features a low standby current of 1µA typical and an auto-powerdown function to conserve energy when no valid RS-232 signal is detected.

 

The TRS3243EIRHBR is supplied in a 32-VQFN (5x5) surface mount package. It requires four external 0.1µF capacitors for its charge pump circuit. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C. This part is designed to be interchangeable with industry-standard '3243E devices.
