The Texas Instruments TRS213CDWR is a 5V multichannel RS-232 line driver/receiver IC. It provides an electrical interface between asynchronous communication controllers and serial port connectors, meeting TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU v.28 standards.
This transceiver integrates four line drivers and five line receivers, along with a dual charge-pump circuit. It offers ±15kV ESD protection on serial port connection pins, including GND. The device operates at data signaling rates up to 120Kbps and supports a maximum driver output slew rate of 30V/µs.
Designed for applications such as battery-powered systems, PDAs, notebooks, and laptops, the TRS213CDWR operates from a single 5V supply. It includes an active-low shutdown (SHDN) and an active-high enable (EN) control. In shutdown mode, supply current is reduced to approximately 1µA, with two receivers remaining active.
