The TPS73230DBVT from Texas Instruments is an NMOS-based, low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator designed for portable and battery-powered equipment. It provides stable operation with or without an output capacitor, offering excellent load transient response. The device features an input voltage range of 1.7V to 5.5V and an ultra-low dropout voltage of 40mV typical at 250mA.
Key electrical characteristics include 0.5% initial accuracy and 1% overall accuracy across line, load, and temperature variations. It boasts low noise performance of 30μVRMS (10kHz to 100kHz) and very low quiescent current, consuming less than 1μA in shutdown mode. Protection features include thermal shutdown and current limiting.
This regulator is available in a compact SOT-23-5 package, suitable for surface mount applications. It is designed for noise-sensitive circuitry such as VCOs and point-of-load regulation for DSPs, FPGAs, and microprocessors. Note that this part is marked as obsolete by the manufacturer.
