TPS53647RTAR Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Texas Instruments TPS53647RTAR is an active 4-phase D-CAP+ step-down buck controller featuring a PMBus interface and Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) for configuration. This controller is designed for ASIC power and high-current point-of-load applications.

Key electrical specifications include an input voltage range of 4.5V to 17V and an output voltage range from 0.25V to 1.52V. It supports a maximum output current of 240A and operates with a typical quiescent current of 0.008A. The controller utilizes the D-CAP+ control mode and offers features such as adjustable current limit, dynamic voltage scaling, enable, light load efficiency, output discharge, phase interleaving, power good indication, pre-bias start-up, remote sense, synchronous rectification, adjustable UVLO, and voltage margining.

The device operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. It is available in a 40-WQFN (6x6) package, suitable for surface mount applications. The controller supports 1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-phase operation and offers selectable BOOT voltage via Pinstrap or NVM from 0.5V to 2.5V. The switching frequency can be set between 300kHz and 1MHz.

This controller is fully compatible with CSD95372BQ5MC NexFET Power Stages, enabling efficient high-frequency switching. The PMBus system interface allows for telemetry of voltage, current, power, temperature, and fault conditions, with 1.8-V and 3.3-V PMBus bias compatibility. Fault reporting includes output voltage, output current, and temperature, configurable via NVM or resistor pinstrap. It also provides 16 levels of programmable OCP and 8 independent levels of overshoot/undershoot reduction.
