The TPS51631ARSMT from Texas Instruments is a driverless step-down controller fully compliant with the SVID communications protocol and the Intel VR12.5 specification. It supports 1-, 2-, or 3-phase operation and offers a full VR12.5 mobile feature set, including digital current monitoring and PS3 operation.
This controller features an 8-bit DAC with an output range of 0.50V to 2.30V, optimized for efficiency at both light and heavy loads. It includes 8 independent levels of Overshoot Reduction (OSR) and Undershoot Reduction (USR) for precise voltage control. The device supports various MOSFET implementations, including discrete, Power Block, Power Stage, or DrMOS.
With a conversion voltage range of 4.5V to 28V and selectable switching frequencies from 300kHz to 1MHz, the TPS51631ARSMT is versatile for different applications. It also features patented AutoBalance phase balancing and selectable 8-level current limit. The controller is housed in a small, 4x4mm, 32-pin QFN PowerPad package, suitable for surface mounting.
