TPS26612DDFR

The TPS26612DDFR from Texas Instruments is a fully integrated current loop protector suitable for applications such as analog inputs, analog outputs, sensor transmitters, HART inputs, and UART IO protection. It provides universal input protection for ±20 mA, 0 mA to 20 mA, and 4 mA–20 mA current loops.

Key electrical specifications include a wide operating voltage range of ±50V, with an absolute maximum rating of ±55V. It features an integrated fixed bipolar 32-mA current limit, which can be allowed to reach 2x current limit at start-up. The device boasts a low typical on-resistance of 7.5Ω, minimizing voltage drop in the current loop and supporting operation with lower voltage power supplies. Quiescent current is exceptionally low, at less than 100 nA when powered from an external supply.

Designed for robust protection, the TPS26612DDFR guards against miswiring conditions on both input and output lines. It also offers protection during signal line surges, meeting IEC61000-4-5 criteria when used with an external TVS, and provides EFT (IEC61000-4-4) immunity with an external TVS. Thermal shutdown is included for device protection.

The component is housed in a compact SOT-23-8 (TSOT-23-8) package, suitable for surface mounting. This integration offers approximately 50% space savings compared to a typical discrete protection circuit. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C (TJ).
