The TPA6047A4RHBR from Texas Instruments is a versatile stereo audio power amplifier and DirectPath headphone amplifier. It is housed in a thermally enhanced, space-saving 32-pin VQFN package.
The speaker amplifier is capable of delivering 2.1 W per channel continuously into 4-Ohm loads when powered by a 5V supply. The headphone amplifier can provide a minimum of 100 mW into 16-Ohm loads with 10% THD+N from the same 5V supply. The device includes an internal 4-step gain control for the speaker amplifier, offering selectable gains of 10, 12, 15.6, and 21.6 dB. The headphone amplifier has a fixed gain of -1.5 V/V.
This amplifier integrates a 4.75V low dropout regulator (LDO) for CODEC power. Independent shutdown controls are provided for the speaker amplifier, headphone amplifier, and the LDO, allowing for flexible power management. The fully differential architecture and high PSRR contribute to excellent RF rectification immunity. Output short-circuit and thermal protection are also included.
Applications for the TPA6047A4RHBR include notebook computers and portable DVD players, where its compact size and integrated features are beneficial.
