TOP270EG

The Power Integrations TOP270EG is part of the TOPSwitch-JX family, an integrated off-line switcher with EcoSmart™ Technology for highly efficient power supplies. This device is ideal for applications ranging from 10 W to 245 W, offering energy efficiency over the entire load range and no-load consumption below 100 mW at 265 VAC.

Key design features include multi-mode PWM control for maximum efficiency, 132 kHz operation to reduce transformer and power supply size, and an accurate programmable current limit. It incorporates a 725 V rated MOSFET and simplifies meeting design derating requirements. The device also includes extensive protection features such as auto-restart, output short-circuit protection (SCP), output over-current protection (OCP), output overload protection (OPP), output overvoltage protection (OVP), and accurate thermal shutdown (OTP).

The TOP270EG is available in an eSIP-7C package, which offers a vertical orientation for minimum PCB footprint and simple heat sink mounting. This package provides 177 W universal input output power capability and its heat sink mounting using a clip provides thermal impedance equivalent to a TO-220.

Typical applications for the TOP270EG include notebook or laptop adapters, generic adapters, printers, LCD monitors, set-top boxes, PC or LCD TV standby, and audio amplifiers.
