TOP234YN

The Power Integrations TOP234YN is an AC/DC converter offline switch from the TOPSwitch-FX family. It integrates a high-voltage power MOSFET, PWM control, and fault protection onto a single CMOS chip, reducing system costs and improving design flexibility. Key features include a 132 kHz switching frequency which helps reduce transformer and power supply size, integrated soft-start for minimum stress, and an externally settable accurate current limit.

This device offers line under-voltage and overvoltage detection, line feed-forward with maximum duty cycle reduction, and frequency jittering to reduce EMI and filtering costs. It regulates to zero load without dummy loading and includes hysteretic thermal shutdown for automatic recovery. The TOP234YN is available in a TO-220-7B package, suitable for various adapter and open-frame power supply designs.

EcoSmart™ energy efficiency is achieved through cycle skipping for reduced no-load consumption and reduced consumption in remote off mode. A half frequency option is available for video applications or high efficiency standby modes. The device also supports active-on and active-off remote ON/OFF capability and can be synchronized to a lower frequency.
