The Vishay Semiconductors TOIM4232-TR3 is an Integrated Interface Circuit (IC) designed for SIR IrDA applications. It provides pulse shaping for infrared transceivers, shortening RS232 signals to IrDA-compatible pulses for transmission and stretching received infrared pulses to the proper bit width.
This Endec IC supports programmable baud rates from 1200 bit/s to 115.2 kbit/s, utilizing a 3.6864 MHz crystal clock. It offers selectable pulse durations of 1.627 µs or 3/16 of the bit time. The device operates within a voltage range of 2.7V to 3.6V, with 5V tolerant inputs.
Designed with ULC technology and a sub-micron channel length (0.35 µm), the TOIM4232-TR3 features low power consumption, approximately 10 mW in operation and microwatts in standby mode. It is housed in a 16-SOIC package suitable for surface mounting.
