The TNY279PG is part of the TinySwitch-III family of energy-efficient, off-line switchers from Power Integrations. This IC incorporates a 700V power MOSFET, oscillator, high voltage switched current source, user-selectable current limit, and thermal shutdown circuitry.
It offers a simple ON/OFF control scheme, eliminating the need for loop compensation. The selectable current limit allows for higher peak power or maximum continuous power in open frame applications, or improved efficiency in enclosed adapters by lowering the current limit. This design flexibility allows for optimum device choice by swapping devices with no other circuit redesign.
Key features include accurate hysteretic thermal shutdown protection with automatic recovery, improved auto-restart for fault conditions, and output overvoltage shutdown.
