The TMS320DM642AGDK7 from Texas Instruments is a powerful Video/Imaging Fixed-Point Digital Signal Processor. It is built on the VelociTI.2™ extensions to the VelociTI™ architecture, featuring a TMS320C64x™ DSP core with eight independent functional units. This processor offers a high clock rate of up to 720MHz, with instruction cycle times as low as 1.39 ns, and can achieve up to 5760 MIPS.

Key electrical features include a 64-bit external memory interface (EMIF) supporting up to 1024 M-Byte of addressable external memory, an enhanced direct-memory-access (EDMA) controller with 64 independent channels, and a 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet MAC (EMAC). It also includes a 32-bit/66-MHz PCI master/slave interface conforming to PCI Specification 2.2.

On-chip memory includes 160kB of total memory, with a 128K-bit L1P program cache and a 128K-bit L1D data cache, plus a 2M-bit L2 unified mapped RAM/cache. The device supports both Little Endian and Big Endian formats. It operates at 3.3V and is housed in a 548-pin FCBGA package, suitable for surface mounting.
