The Texas Instruments TMP6431QDYARQ1 is a high-performance, automotive-grade linear thermistor designed for precise temperature sensing and compensation. It features a silicon-based positive temperature coefficient (PTC) design, offering a linear resistance change across its operating temperature range.
With a nominal resistance of 47 kΩ at 25°C and a tight tolerance of ±1% between 0°C and 70°C, this thermistor ensures accurate measurements. It boasts a consistent sensitivity with a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 6400 ppm/°C at 25°C and a typical TCR tolerance of 0.2% across the temperature range. The device also offers a fast thermal response time of 0.6 seconds (DEC) and a typical long-term sensor drift of 0.5%.
Designed for demanding automotive applications, the TMP6431QDYARQ1 meets AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualifications, operating from -40°C to 150°C. It includes built-in fail-safe features for short-circuit conditions, ensuring robust performance and a long lifetime. Its small footprint, available in SOT-5X3 (0603 footprint compatible) and other packages, allows for close placement to heat sources.
Key applications include thermal compensation for display backlights and battery management systems, as well as thermal threshold detection in motor control, on-board chargers, and DC-DC converters. The linear nature of this thermistor simplifies temperature conversion methods, reducing the need for complex linearization circuitry and calibration.
