The TMP17GS from Analog Devices is a monolithic integrated circuit temperature transducer designed for applications requiring an output current proportional to absolute temperature. It functions as a high impedance temperature-dependent current source, outputting 1 µA/K across a wide range of supply voltages from 4V to 30V. This device is suitable for applications operating between -40°C and +105°C, offering an alternative to conventional temperature sensors like thermistors, RTDs, thermocouples, and diodes.
The TMP17GS boasts improved design and laser wafer trimming for enhanced absolute accuracy and reduced nonlinearity errors. It eliminates the need for expensive linearization circuitry, precision voltage references, bridge components, resistance measuring circuitry, and cold junction compensation. The sensor is available in a low-cost SO-8 surface-mount package, making it convenient for various PCB designs.
Key features include a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C, single-supply operation, excellent repeatability and stability, and a high-level output of 1 µA/K. Its monolithic IC design ensures minimal self-heating errors, contributing to reliable performance in demanding environments.
