The Texas Instruments TMP007AIYZFR is a fully-integrated microelectromechanical system (MEMS) thermopile sensor that measures the temperature of an object without direct contact. It absorbs passive infrared energy from an object within a defined field of view and uses an internal math engine to calculate the target object temperature based on the thermopile voltage and internal cold-junction reference temperature.
This sensor features a 14-bit local temperature sensor for cold junction reference with an accuracy of ±1°C from 0°C to +60°C and ±1.5°C from –40°C to +125°C. The integrated math engine allows for direct object temperature readings, programmable alerts, and nonvolatile memory for calibration coefficients. It supports I2C and SMBus compatible two-wire serial interfaces with eight programmable addresses.
Designed for low power consumption, the TMP007AIYZFR operates from a 2.5V to 5.5V supply, with an active current of 270 μA (typ) and a shutdown current of 2 μA (max). Its compact 1.9-mm × 1.9-mm × 0.625-mm DSBGA package makes it suitable for space-constrained applications. The sensor is specified to operate from –40°C to +125°C, enabling object temperature measurements beyond this range as long as the device itself remains within its operating limits.
Applications include noncontact temperature sensing for case temperature, laser printers, power relays, health and beauty products, and HVAC comfort optimization. It can also be used for gas concentration and flame detection.
