The TMP006AIYZFR from Texas Instruments is a fully integrated MEMs thermopile sensor for noncontact temperature measurement. It absorbs passive infrared energy from an object and digitizes the resulting voltage change, along with an on-chip die thermal sensor measurement. This data is reported via an I2C and SMBus compatible interface, allowing an external processor to calculate the target object temperature.
This sensor is specified to operate from -40°C to +125°C, with accuracy of ±1°C from 0°C to 60°C and ±1.5°C from -40°C to +125°C. It supports a supply voltage range of 2.2V to 5.5V and features a shutdown mode for low power consumption. The device has a resolution of 15 bits and a sensing temperature range of 20°C to 60°C for IR measurements.
The TMP006AIYZFR is available in a compact 8-DSBGA (8-UFBGA) package, suitable for surface mounting. Its capabilities make it ideal for applications such as case temperature monitoring, HVAC comfort optimization, and gas concentration detection where noncontact temperature measurement is required.
