The ams OSRAM TMD26353 is an advanced IR proximity sensor module suited for short-range proximity measurement detection. It is offered in an industry-leading small size of 1.0mm x 2.0mm with a thin profile of 0.5mm. This module incorporates a 940nm IR VCSEL and is factory calibrated for IR proximity response.
The proximity detection feature works by sensing reflected IR energy from nearby objects, sourced by the integrated VCSEL emitter. Sensitivity, power consumption, and noise can be optimized using adjustable timing and power settings. Detect/release events can be interrupt-driven, occurring when the proximity result crosses upper and/or lower threshold settings.
The proximity engine includes advanced crosstalk noise cancellation through wide-range offset adjustments to compensate for unwanted IR energy reflection at the sensor. Proximity results are further improved by automatic ambient light subtraction. The module utilizes 0.18µm process technology and operates via an 1.8V I²C interface.
Its ultra-small volumetric size and low profile make it ideal for the smallest size applications, reducing overall system power consumption and board space requirements. The split near/far photodiodes and offset emitter/detector placement enhance industrial design flexibility.
