The Texas Instruments TLK4015IZPV is a four-channel multigigabit transceiver designed for ultrahigh-speed bidirectional point-to-point data transmission. Each of the four channels operates independently, supporting an effective serial interface speed of 0.6 Gbps to 1.5 Gbps, providing up to 1.2 Gbps of data bandwidth per channel.
This transceiver is ideal for high-speed backplane interconnects and point-to-point data links. It interfaces with backplanes, copper cables, or optical converters. The device operates from a 2.5-V power supply for low-power operation and is rated for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
Key features include on-chip 8-bit/10-bit (8b/10b) encoding/decoding, comma alignment, and link synchronization. It also includes an on-chip PLL for clock synthesis from a low-speed reference and loss-of-signal (LOS) detection. The TLK4015IZPV is available in a compact 289-ball PBGA package (19x19 mm) and is designed for surface mount.
This device can replace parallel data transmission architectures, reducing the number of traces and connector terminals. It performs parallel-to-serial and serial-to-parallel data conversion, reconstructing the original parallel format at the receiver. The typical power consumption is 1 W.
