The TLE4727 from Infineon Technologies is a bipolar monolithic integrated circuit for driving bipolar stepper motors, DC motors, and other inductive loads that operate on constant current. This IC integrates control logic and power output stages for two bipolar windings, enabling switched current control of motors with up to 0.7 A per phase at operating voltages up to 16 V.
The device features fast free-wheeling diodes, outputs free of crossover current, and offset-phase turn-ON of output stages. All outputs are short-circuit proof. It provides a stabilized 5 V output for logic supply, capable of powering external components up to 5 mA. The TLE4727 includes an error flag for signaling malfunctions such as overload, open load, or overtemperature.
Designed for direct microprocessor control, the TLE4727 allows programming of direction and current value for each phase via separate control inputs. A common oscillator generates timing for current control and turn-on with phase offset. The IC is housed in a P-DIP-20-6 package and is suitable for through-hole mounting.
Key electrical characteristics include a maximum supply voltage of 45 V and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 110°C. The interface is parallel, and the technology is bipolar, making it a versatile component for general-purpose motor driver applications.
