The TLC5970RHPR from Texas Instruments is a versatile 3-channel, constant-current sink LED driver. It integrates a buck DC/DC converter to improve system efficiency and reduce current draw. Each channel provides individually adjustable currents with 4096 PWM grayscale steps and 128 constant-current sink steps for dot correction.
This device supports a maximum input voltage of 36V and an LED supply voltage of up to 17V. The constant-current accuracy is ±0.5% channel-to-channel and ±3% device-to-device. Data transfer rates reach up to 20 MHz, and it features a differential signal interface for long-distance cascading.
The TLC5970RHPR is housed in a 28-QFN (6x6) package and is designed for surface mounting. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C (TA). Applications include full-color static LED displays for building walls and long-distance, large-area illumination.
Key features include 12-bit grayscale control, 7-bit dot correction, and 7-bit global brightness control, all accessible via a differential signal interface. The device also includes internal EEPROM for dot correction storage and thermal shutdown protection.
