The Texas Instruments TLC551CD is a monolithic timing circuit designed for general-purpose timer and oscillator applications. It is functionally interchangeable with the NE555 and operates from a single supply voltage ranging from 1V to 15V. This timer IC features a maximum frequency of 1.8MHz and a low supply current of 360 µA.

 

The TLC551CD is fabricated using the LinCMOS process, offering compatibility with CMOS, TTL, and MOS logic. Its high input impedance allows for the use of smaller timing capacitors, enabling more accurate time delays and oscillations compared to the NE555. The device has a typical quiescent current of 0.17 mA and consumes only 1 mW at 5V.

 

It is available in an 8-SOIC surface-mount package. The operating temperature range is from 0°C to 70°C. The output can sink up to 100 mA and source 10 mA, with reduced supply-current spikes during output transitions. ESD protection exceeds 2000V per MIL-STD-883C, Method 3015.2.
